Mission
The mission of the Holzer School of Nursing & Allied Health is to provide the learner with the opportunity to attain a high quality and high value education. To this end the Holzer School of Nursing & Allied Health provides the learner the knowledge and skills necessary to meet challenges and opportunities encountered in the allied health & nursing professions. Recent emphasis on promotion of health, prevention of illness, as well as advances in caring for the ill, has opened new areas of employment and has created added responsibilities for practicing nurses. An emphasis on the unique lifelong learning needs of the learner in the Holzer School of Nursing & Allied Health will promote successful careers, and professional citizenship.

Applying for Admission to Allied Health Programs
- Application Deadline: February 1 (each year)
- Prerequisite Courses: High school or college biology, algebra, and chemistry passed with a grade of “C” or higher
- ACT Composite score of 20 or higher for DMS (required of high school graduates within last 5 years)
- RAD requires an ACT composite score of 20 or higher for all applicants.
- RAD Requirement: High school or college physics passed with a grade of “C” or higher
- High school or college GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Current high school and college transcripts attached to applications
- General admission/acceptance status of University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College
- You may apply for more than one program; you would need to fill out each program’s application form. Application forms are listed below.

Allied Health Program Applications
The application deadlines for RAD, RCP, and DMS Programs was February 1, 2022 and are closed at this time. Students interested in the RCP program may continue to apply but will be placed on a waiting list for the program until April 1.

Assessment
Assessment of End of Program Student Learning Outcomes Associate Degree Nursing
Assessment of end of program student earning outcomes is an on-going process within the University of Rio Grande-Holzer School of Nursing A variety of activities are used to assess student learning.
Licensure Examination Pass Rate – performance on the NCLEX-RN for first-time test takers
Program Completion Rate- Percentage of students who graduate within a defined period of time. The definition used by ACEN for the program Completion rate is the number of students who complete the program in no more than 150% of the stated program length beginning with enrollment in the first nursing course.
Job Placement Rate- Percentage of graduates responding to a graduate survey who were employed in a position for which the prepared them in six-12 months after graduating.

Military
Credits from other institutions will transfer based on the policies and the procedures documented in the college catalog. The transfer of nursing course credits will be assessed on a case by case basis using student learning outcomes, course requirements and the curriculum plan to determine eligibility. The program reserves the right to determine the acceptability of nursing transfer credits in accord with its mission and goals. Transfer credit for nursing courses will not be considered for transfer if the student has failed any nursing courses in their previous programs. Military credit will transfer if appropriate to the requirement s of the curriculum plan for the program. The Joint Services Transcript will be used to determine transfer credit eligibility.
