JACKSON, OH- Selected students representing the University of Rio Grande’s business and professional communications programs recently attended a round table meeting with Ohio’s Secretary of State Frank LaRose that was held at the University of Rio Grande Jackson Center. The meeting was in partnership with the University of Rio Grande and the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership. The topic of the meeting was how to make Ohio a better place for businesses and election security. Students and other local business representatives had the chance to ask LaRose numerous questions about the business environment in southern Ohio.
One of the attendees, Sydnee Runyon, a business management major at Rio states, “Meeting the Secretary of State was an amazing experience and opportunity. He told us that we need to meet new people and have new experiences before we graduate. In addition, LaRose said that we are an amazing generation with amazing mentors.” Runyon continued, “I am very proud that Rio gave me this opportunity.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, LaRose explained some possible internship opportunities for the students that might be interested. While visiting Jackson County, LaRose met the county board of elections and held a campaign fundraiser at ParksEdge Event Center.
