    MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande was selected sixth in the 2019 River States Conference women's cross country preseason coaches' poll released Monday night by league officials.
    Head coach Bob Willey's squad received 69 points in the balloting of the league's 12 head coaches.
    Rio Grande, which also finished sixth last season, will open its season on Sept. 6 at the Golden Bear Classic in Beckley, W.Va. Senior Kelsey Miller (Georgetown, OH) is the squad's top returnee.

    MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande has been picked eighth overall and fourth in the River States Conference East Division according to the 2019 RSC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll released by league officials.
    The RedStorm received 46 points in the balloting of the conference's 12 head coaches.
    Rio Grande is coming off a 9-23 finish overall and a 4-12 showing in the RSC last season.

    MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande has been picked fifth in the 2019 River States Conference women's soccer preseason coaches' poll released Thursday night by the conference office.
    The RedStorm received one first-place vote and 70 points in the balloting of the league's 11 head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own squad. Head coach Tony Daniels' squad is coming off a 7-9-2 finish overall and a 5-3-1 mark in the RSC last season.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three athletic programs representing the University of Rio Grande were among the 1,883 teams which earned the distinction for Scholar-Teams for the 2018-19 academic year from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
    For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.

[Baseball] Shockley picked by Pirates in MLB Draft

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Dylan Shockley's life-long dream of becoming a professional baseball player turned into reality on Wednesday afternoon.
    The University of Rio Grande standout was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 34th round of Major League Baseball's Amateur Draft.
    "I couldn't tell you how glad I am for this moment to happen," said Shockley, after getting his long-awaited phone call. "I've worked my whole life for this. I'm happy to be a Pittsburgh Pirate."
    Shockley, a native of Minford, Ohio, was named the River States Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading the RedStorm to a 39-21 record, a conference tournament championship and an NAIA National Tournament berth.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Rio Grande softball team jumped 10 positions to No. 23 in the post-season release of the NAIA Coaches' Top 25.
    The RedStorm tallied 126 points in the final poll released Wednesday by the national office.
    The poll is the result of voting by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
    The RedStorm finished 36-16 after going 2-2 in the Lawrenceville, Ga. bracket of the NAIA Softball National Championship last month

    Head coach Brad Warnimont's squad tallied 98 points in the balloting of a panel of head coaches representing each of the NAIA conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
    The poll was released Wednesday by the national office.
