[Women’s Golf] Gioffre claims second straight medalist honor

    GRAYSON, Ky. - Rafaela Gioffre posted her second straight medalist finish, leading the University of Rio Grande women's golf team to a third place finish in the Kentucky Christian University Fall Invitational, which wrapped up on Sunday at Hidden Cove Golf Course.
    Gioffre, a senior from Hebron, Ohio, carded a 36-hole total of 5-over par 149 to post a three-shot win over the University of Pikeville's Ellen Kehoe.
    Gioffre gave Rio its first-ever medalist finish last week by taking the title at the Indiana University East Fall Classic.

[Men’s Golf] Rio’s Sheets ties for 10th at KCU Invite

    GRAYSON, Ky. - Logan Sheets was among a trio of players who tied for 10th place to lead the University of Rio Grande men's golf team in the Kentucky Christian University Fall Invitational, which wrapped up on Sunday at Hidden Cove Golf Course.
    Sheets, a senior from Bidwell, Ohio, finished with an 11-over par total of 155 after carding a 4-over par 76 on Saturday and a 7-over par 79 on Sunday.

    BATAVIA, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande volleyball team finds itself over the .500 mark for the first time this season after a pair of wins in a triangular match hosted by the University of Cincinnati-Clermont, Saturday afternoon, at the Student Activities Center.
    The RedStorm (4-3) ran their winning streak to three straight, posting a pair of straight sets victories, knocking off the host Cougars by scores of 27-25, 25-14, 25-14 and routing Penn State University-Dubois 25-13, 25-13, 25-8.

[Women’s Soccer] Tigers trample RedStorm women

    GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Host Georgetown College took advantage of a short-handed University of Rio Grande roster and rolled to a 13-1 win over the RedStorm, Saturday afternoon, in non-conference women's soccer action at Toyota Stadium.
    Rio Grande, which dressed just 13 players for the contest, slipped to 0-5 with the loss.
    Georgetown evened its record at 2-2 with the win.
    The 13 goals scored by the Tigers equaled a Rio record for goals allowed in a single game, tying the mark established by Tiffin University in a 13-0 win on October 21, 2006.

    BECKLEY, W.Va. - The University of Rio Grande had two top 15 finishers and took third place as a team in Friday evening's Golden Bear Classic IV hosted by West Virginia University Tech.
    Senior Keshawn Jones (Mansfield, OH) placed ninth in a time of 13:31 and freshman Austin Setty (Fairfield, OH) was 13th after crossing in a time of 13:38 over the 4K course.

    LIMA, Ohio - Spencer Reinford's goal with just over 12 minutes remaining snapped a 1-1 deadlock and lifted the University of Rio Grande to a 2-1 victory over the University of Northwestern Ohio, Thursday afternoon, at Racer Field.
    Rio Grande, ranked No. 5 in the NAIA coaches' poll, improved to 5-0 with the win.
    UNOH, which was among the schools receiving votes in the same poll, dropped to 1-1-1 with the loss.

[Volleyball] RedStorm knocks off Knights

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio -  The University of Rio Grande spotted visiting Kentucky Christian University an early lead before roaring back to post a 3-1 win over the Knights, Tuesday night, in non-conference volleyball action at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    The RedStorm earned the victory by scores of 23-25, 25-13, 27-25, 25-17.
    Rio Grande snapped a brief two-game losing slide and improved to 2-3 with the win.
    Kentucky Christian, which had won each of its previous two outings against the RedStorm, dropped to 0-6 with the loss.
