    WILMORE, Ky. – Host Asbury University turned one big inning into a game one victory and then held off a late game two rally by the University of Rio Grande for a doubleheader sweep of the RedStorm, Saturday afternoon, in River States Conference baseball action at Cecil C. Zweifel Field.
    The Eagles posted an 8-7 triumph in the opener and a 6-3 win in the nightcap to push their record to 23-8 overall and 10-5 in conference play.
    Rio Grande, which had a four-game win streak snapped, dropped to 12-23 overall and 5-10 inside the RSC.

    The RedStorm won for a fourth straight time, improving to 12-21 overall and 5-8 in conference play.
    Asbury dropped to 21-8 overall and 8-5 inside the RSC.

[Softball] Rio takes two from Tech

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The same formula that worked for the University of Rio Grande in a doubleheader sweep of Carlow University on Thursday evening – a decisive game one victory and a walk-off win in game two – worked a second time against West Virginia University-Tech on Friday afternoon.
    The RedStorm parlayed a quick start and strong pitching from Raelynn Hastings for a 6-0 triumph in the opener, while freshman Sydney Campolo's solid effort in the circle and a walk-off single by senior Morgan Santos produced a 2-1 victory in the nightcap at Rio Softball Park.
    Rio Grande improved to 19-10 overall and 4-0 in River States Conference play as a result of the sweep.
    The Golden Bears finished the day at 6-10 overall and 0-2 in league play.

[Softball] Rio opens RSC play with sweep

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio – One game finished 2-1/2 innings early, while the other took three extra frames.
    But when the dust settled on the University of Rio Grande's doubleheader with visiting Carlow University, the RedStorm had themselves a sweep in their first River States Conference games of the season.
    Head coach Chris Hammond's squad throttled the Celtics, 19-2, in Thursday afternoon's mercy rule-shortened opener before outlasting their guests, 1-0, in a 10-inning nightcap at frigid Rio Softball Park.
    Rio Grande finished the day at 17-10 overall and 2-0 in league play.
    Carlow fell to 2-8-1 overall and 0-2 in RSC action.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio – Carli Tucci clubbed a walk-off home run in game one, while Sarah Miller and Grace Yeung had three hits each, including a home run, in game two to lead Case Western Reserve University in a doubleheader sweep of the University of Rio Grande, Tuesday afternoon, in non-conference softball action at Mather Park.
    The host Spartans posted victories by scores of 4-3 and 12-8, improving their season record to 12-6 in the process.

[Women’s Soccer] Rio Grande to host Golden Bears in RSC quarters

    MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – The University of Rio Grande will host West Virginia University-Tech in the quarterfinal round of the 2020-21 River States Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Thursday, at 6 p.m., at Evan E. Davis Field.
    The bracket for the championship, which was shifted from the Fall to the Spring due to COVID-19 restrictions, was announced on Tuesday by conference officials following Monday's conclulsion of regular season play.
    The top six teams in the conference qualified for the tournament, which is scheduled for April 1-10 at campus sites around the conference.
