[Men’s Golf] RedStorm finishes ninth at Bockwitz Classic

    JACKSON, Mich. – Sophomore Jacob Calvin maintained a Top 10 showing, while the University of Rio Grande men's golf team slipped three positions over the final 18 holes following Tuesday's final round of the Bill Bockwitz Classic hosted by Spring Arbor University at the Grande Golf Club.
    Calvin, a native of Chillicothe, Ohio, shot a 3-over par round of 75 to finish the 54-hole tourney at 4-over par 220 and part of a three-way deadlock for seventh place. Marian (Ind.) University's Jay Williams took medalist honors by finishing at 2-under par 214 and edging three other golfers by one stroke.
    As a team, Rio Grande had its worst round of the tournament and dropped from fifth place to eighth with a total of 66-over par 930. Marian maintained the team lead throughout and finished with a 16-over par total of 880, while Shawnee State finished second (897) and Indiana Wesleyan was third (899).
    Rio Grande's "B" team finished 13th among the 14 participating squads with a 207-over par total of 1,071.

[Men’s Golf] Rio men fifth after two rounds of Bockwitz Classic

    JACKSON, Mich. – The University of Rio Grande men's golf team finds itself in fifth place following Monday's action in the Bill Bockwitz Fall Classic hosted by Spring Arbor University at the Grande Golf Club.
    The RedStorm tallied a 36-hole total of 32-over par 608 and trailed tournament leader Marian (Ind.) University by 25 strokes. Indiana Wesleyan University sits in second place (596), while host Spring Arbor is third (602) and Shawnee State University (604) is fourth.
    Rio Grande is also fielding a "B" team in the tourney, which currently sits in 13th place among the 14 teams with a 144-over par total of 720.

[Men’s Cross Country] Booth places 2nd at Golden Bear Classic

    BECKLEY, W.Va. – Cody Booth recorded a runner-up finish as an individual and helped the University of Rio Grande to a second-place showing as a team in the men's division of the Golden Bear Shortcourse Classic, Saturday afternoon, at Beckley Middle School.
    Booth, a junior from New Philadelphia, Ohio, finished the 4k course in a time of 13:13 – 14 seconds behind WVU-Tech's Michael Ecker-Randolph.

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio – Diego Martinez scored a first half goal, Nicolas Cam Orellana found the back of the net in the second half and Kieran Hodges recorded the first clean sheet of his collegiate career as the University of Rio Grande upended Lourdes University, 2-0, in non-conference men's soccer action, Saturday night, at Evan E. Davis Field.
    The RedStorm, who rebounded from a shutout loss at Indiana Wesleyan last Saturday, improved to 2-1 with the win.
    The visiting Gray Wolves, who are a member of the NAIA's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, slipped to 1-1 as a result of the loss.

[Women’s Soccer] Campos leads Rio women to first win

    CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Lorna Campos scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead the University of Rio Grande in a 3-1 win over Ohio Christian University, Saturday afternoon, at the OCU Soccer Complex.
    The RedStorm improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the River States Conference with the victory.
    The host Trailblazers were playing their season-opening contest.

[Volleyball] Cougars spoil RedStorm’s home opener

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The University of Cincinnati-Clermont coughed up a two sets to one lead before rallying in the fifth and decisive set to post a 3-2 win (16-25, 28-26, 25-21, 24-26, 16-14) over the University of Rio Grande, Saturday morning, in non-conference volleyball action at the Newt Oliver Arena.
    The Cougars, who tallied their first-ever win over the RedStorm, improved to 3-1 with the victory.
    Rio Grande, which was playing its home opener, slipped to 1-1 with the loss.
